Mushroom identification help

If you know what a mushroom looks like, but don't know what it is, you can use this list to identify it. The mushrooms are grouped by family, so closely related mushrooms are listed together. Click on the pictures to enlarge them and click on the caption to show the details regarding the mushroom. Never eat any wild mushroom unless you are 100% sure it is correctly identified by using many resources, and an expert mycologist has checked your identification. There is also a beginner's guide to the identification basics.

You have now reached the end of the list. If you haven’t found something similar to the mushroom you are looking for, you can try to go thru the list again. If you can’t find the mushroom in the list and you have pictures, you can donate the pictures to Mushroom World so we can include the mushroom in our database.

If you plan to collect fungi to be eaten, misidentified mushrooms can make you sick or kill you. Never eat a mushroom that you are not 100% sure is edible. Use many resources, and be skeptical of your own conclusions. Please consider that many mushrooms take years of experience to identify reliably.

The site takes no responsibility for damage caused by ingesting poisonous mushrooms. If you continue, you agree to view this website under these terms.
